Back to Recreation & Sportsman's Guide Birdwatching
Every winter between December 14 and Jan 5 the Audobon Society conducts and sponsors a Bridgeport Christmas Bird Count. One day is spent counting every bird that can be identified by sight or sound within a 15-mile diameter circle. Anyone can participate! If you have a bird feeder you can participate! If you don’t you can count! Bridgeport’s CBC is the only one in the state to record Sharp-tailed Grouse. People from all over the state come over to help and add this bird to their life list. The most seen in one-year is 89 Grouse. Last counts in 2000: a total of 28,221 individual birds were counted. Contact Meredith Spencer at 509-686-7551 or merdave@televar.com
